BĀHUṀ SAHASSA-MABHINIM-MITASĀVUDHANTAṀ

展現千手之相,手中各執兵器,

Creating a form with 1000 arms, each equipped with a weapon,

GRĪMEKHALAṀ UDITA-GHORASA-SENAMĀRAṀ

指揮著大軍的魔羅,騎在克立米卡拉象上怒吼著,

Mārā on the elephant Girimekhala roared frightfully with his soldiers.

DĀNĀDIDHAMMAVIDHINĀ JITAVĀ MUNINDO

牟尼世尊以法施等降服了它,

The Lord of Munis (Sages) conquered him by the power of His perfection of generosity;

TANTEJASĀ BHAVATU TE JAYAMAṄGALĀNI.

By the power of this may you have wholesome victories.


MĀRĀTIREKA-MABHIYUJJHITA-SABBARATTIṀ

威力勝於魔羅,

More frightful than Mārā making war all night,

GHORAM-PANĀḶAVAKAMAKKHAMATHADDHA-YAKKHAṀ

日夜宣戰是那可怖的夜叉阿拉哇卡,火爆急躁及自大,

Was the frightfulness of Alavaka the Yakkha, impatient and arrogant,

KHANTĪ-SUDANTA-VIDHINĀ JITAVĀ MUNINDO

牟尼世尊以無比的忍辱調服了它,

The Lord of Munis conquered him by means of His perfection in patience;

TANTEJASĀ BHAVATU TE JAYAMAṄGALĀNI.

以此威力故,願你獲得勝吉祥。

By the power of this may you have wholesome victories.


NĀḶĀGIRIṀ GAJAVARAṀ ATIMATTABHUTAṀ

醉狂的御象那拉其陵,

The provoked noble elephant Nalagiri became quite mad,

DĀVAGGI-CAKKA-MASANĪVA SUDĀRUṆANTAṀ

狂如森林的大火,威如火輪,猛如雷電,

Was very horrific, like a forest fire, a flaming discus, a thunder-bolt.

METTAMBUSEKA-VIDHINĀ JITAVĀ MUNINDO

牟尼世尊 施以慈悲的甘露調服了它,

The Lord of Munis conquered him by sprinkling the cool water of loving-kindness;

TANTEJASĀ BHAVATU TE JAYAMAṄGALĀNI.

By the power of this may you have wholesome victories.


UKKHITTA-KHAGGAMATIHATTHA SUDĀRUṆANTAṀ

窮凶極惡的盎哥羅魔,以熟練的手揮著大刀,

Very cruel, with a sword upraised in his expert hand,

DHĀVAN-TIYOJANA-PATHAṄGULIMĀLAVANTAṀ

追趕了三由旬的路,那佩帶指環的惡魔,

Angulimala garlanded with fingers, pursued the Lord for three leagues.

IDDHĪBHISAṄKHATA-MANO JITAVĀ MUNINDO

牟尼世尊以神變的力量調服了他,

The Lord of Munis conquered him with mind-performed marvels;

TANTEJASĀ BHAVATU TE JAYAMAṄGALĀNI.

以此威力故,願你獲得勝吉祥。

By the power of this may you have wholesome victories.


KATVĀNA KAṬṬHAMUDARAṀ IVA GABBHINĪYĀ

以木塊偽裝著大肚子,

Having made her belly like a pregnant woman by tying on a piece of wood,

CIÑCĀYA DUṬṬHA-VACANAṀ JANA-KĀYA-MAJJHE

旃奢摩那祗於眾人前(對佛)作出毀謗,

Ciñcā spoke lewdly, in the midst of a devout gathering.

SANTENA SOMA-VIDHINĀ JITAVĀ MUNINDO

牟尼世尊以默然的方法加以化解,

The Lord of Munis conquered her by gracious and peaceful means;

TANTEJASĀ BHAVATU TE JAYAMAṄGALĀNI.

以此威力故,願你獲得勝吉祥。

By the power of this may you have wholesome victories.


SACCAṀ VIHĀYA MATI-SACCAKA-VĀDA-KETUṀ

沙加卡心識被蒙蔽,

Saccaka, who’s provocative views were often distorted truths,

VĀDĀBHIROPITA-MANAṀ ATI-ANDHABHŪTAṀ

言論網顧真理,高舉自己的論調如高舉旗幟一般,

Delighting in argument, arguing with a mind completely blinded by perverted views.

PAÑÑĀ-PADĪPA-JALITO JITAVĀ MUNINDO

牟尼世尊以智慧明燈調服了他,

The Lord of Munis conquered him by His shining lamp of wisdom;

TANTEJASĀ BHAVATU TE JAYAMAṄGALĀNI.

NANDOPANANDA-BHUJAGAṀ VIBUDHAṀ MAHIDDHIṀ

擁有大神力,但具有邪見的蛇王南羅巴難陀,

Nandopananda the serpent with wrong views but with great psychic power,

PUTTENA THERABHUJAGENA DAMĀPAYANTO

佛遣大弟子目犍連化現蛇王相而加制服,

The (Buddha's) chief disciple, the Elder (Moggallana), with supernatural attainments, set out to tame him.

IDDHŪPADESAVIDHINĀ JITAVĀ MUNINDO

牟尼世尊加以開導的方法,感化了他,

The Lord of Munis conquered him by means of demonstration of marvels,

TANTEJASĀ BHAVATU TE JAYAMAṄGALĀNI.

以此威力故,願你獲得勝吉祥。

By the power of this may you have wholesome victories.


DUGGĀHA-DIṬṬHI-BHUJAGENA SUDAṬṬHA-HATTHAṀ

受邪見系縛,猶如被蛇緊纏雙手一樣,

Like a well coiled serpent about the arms were the wrongly grasped views

BRAHMAṀ VISUDDHI-JUTIMIDDHI-BAKĀBHIDHĀNAṀ

那具大威力及光芒燦爛的梵天天神巴卡,

Of the Brahma-god named Baka, who thought himself of pure radiant light and power.

ÑĀṆĀGADENA VIDHINĀ JITAVĀ MUNINDO

牟尼世尊以智慧的法藥調服了他,

The Lord of Munis conquered him by means of the medicinal words of knowledge;

TANTEJASĀ BHAVATU TE JAYAMAṄGALĀNI.

以此威力故,願你獲得勝吉祥。

By the power of this may you have wholesome victories.


ETĀPI BUDDHA-JAYA-MAṄGALA-AṬṬHA-GĀTHĀ

這八首佛勝吉祥偈,

These are the eight verses on the Buddha's wholesome victories

YO VĀCANO DINADINE SARATE MATANDĪ

應當天天誦念,時時思維,

Which should be chanted and recollected every day, never lazy

HITVĀNANEKA-VIVIDHĀNI CUPADDAVĀNI

以便祛除種種的障礙,

To rid of the many kinds of obstacles

MOKKHAṀ SUKHAṀ ADHIGAMEYYA NARO SAPAÑÑO.

有智慧的人,皆可獲得安樂與解脫。

The man of wisdom can attain liberation and happiness.

ITIPI SO BHAGAVĀ ARAHAṀ SAMMĀSAMBUDDHO

世尊是如此,已遠離塵垢,斷盡無明煩惱的阿羅漢,自證成正等正覺,

He is indeed the Exalted One, far from defilements, Perfectly Enlightened by Himself, fully possessed of wisdom and (excellent) conduct,

VIJJĀCARAṆA SAMPANNO SUGATO LOKAVIDŪ

明行具足者、善逝、世間解、

One who has proceeded by the good way, Knower of worlds, unexcelled Teacher of those who can be taught,

ANUTTARO PURISA-DAMMA-SĀRATHI SATTHĀ DEVA-MANUSSĀNAṀ BUDDHO BHAGAVĀTI.

無上士調御丈夫、天人師、佛、世尊。

Teacher of deities and men, the Awakened One, the Lord skilled in teaching DHAMMA

SVĀKKHĀTO BHAGAVATĀ DHAMMO

世尊所善妙詳細宣說旳法,

Well-expounded is the Exalted One's DHAMMA

SANDIṬṬHIKO AKĀLIKO EHIPASSIKO

須經過學習及奉行才能親自體會的(自見) ,是可奉行,可得成果,不被時間所限制的(無時) ,請來親自試試看(請來看),

to be seen here-and-now, timeliness, (inviting one to) come-and-see

OPANAYIKO PACCATTAṀ VEDITABBO VIÑÑUHĪTI.

向內返照(導向) ,智者皆能親自體證 (智者各自證知)。

leading inwards to be seen by each wise man for himself.


覆誦 14 遍 REPEAT 14 TIMES 

SUPAṬIPANNO BHAGAVATO SĀVAKASAṄGHO

僧伽是世尊的追隨者,良好地修習奉行佛法的團體 (善於擇法的行者)。

The SAṄGHA, the Exalted One's disciples, who has practised well.

UJUPAṬIPANNO BHAGAVATO SĀVAKASAṄGHO

僧伽是世尊的追隨者,直接地修習奉行佛法的團體。(不取兩端而實踐中道的行者)。

The SAṄGHA, the Exalted One's disciples, who has practised straightforwardly.

ÑĀYAPAṬIPANNO BHAGAVATO SĀVAKASAṄGHO

僧伽是世尊的追隨者,正確地修習奉行佛法以便脫離苦的團體。(以取證涅盤為最終目標的行者) 。

The SAṄGHA, the Exalted One's disciples, who has practised rightly.

SĀMĪCIPAṬIPANNO BHAGAVATO SĀVAKASAṄGHO

僧伽是世尊的追隨者,已能依教奉行佛法的團體 (梵行清淨的行者)。

The SAṄGHA, the Exalted One's disciples, who has practised properly;

YADIDAṀ CATTĀRI PURISAYUGĀNI AṬṬHA PURISAPUGGALĀ

他們即是 : 四雙八輩人 (即是一向、一果、二向、二果、三向、三果及四向、四果),

That is to say, the four pairs of men, the eight noble individual persons,

ESA BHAGAVATO SĀVAKASAṄGHO ĀHUNEYYO PĀHUNEYYO

那才是世尊的追隨者,僧伽。應當虔誠禮敬,應當熱忱歡迎,

That is the SAṄGHA of the Exalted One's disciples, worthy of gifts, worthy of hospitality,

DAKKHIṆEYYO AÑJALIKARAṆĪYO ANUTTARAṀ PUÑÑAKKHETTAṀ LOKASSĀTI.

應當佈施供養,應當合十敬禮,是世間的無上福田。

Worthy of offerings, worthy of respect, The incomparable field of puñña for the world.


如來出世 DHAMMANIYĀMA SUTTAṀ
(The Discourse of Fixed Law of Dhamma )

EVAMME SUTAṀ: EKAṀ SAMAYAṀ BHAGAVĀ, SĀVATTHIYAṀ 

VIHARATI JETAVANE ANĀTHAPIṆḌIKASSA ĀRĀME. 

TATRA KHO BHAGAVĀ BHIKKHŪ ĀMANTESI BHIKKAVOTI. 

BHADANTETI TE BHIKKHŪ BHAGAVATO PACCASSOSUṀ. 

BHAGAVĀ ETADAVOCA:

如是我聞:一時,世尊住在捨衛城給孤獨長者的祇陀林精捨。那時,世尊告諸比丘們:「諸比丘。」「世尊」,比丘們應道。世尊開始說:

Thus, have I heard: At one time the Blessed One was staying near Savatthi in Jeta’s Grove at Anāthapindika’s park (monastery). There he addressed the monks, saying, 「monks.」 「Yes, Lord,」the monks responded to him. 

The Blessed One said:

UPPĀDĀ VĀ BHIKKHAVE TATHĀGATĀNAṀ ANUPPĀDĀ VĀ TATHĀGATĀNAṀ, 

ṬHITĀ VA SĀ DHĀTU DHAMMAṬṬHITATĀ DHAMMANIYĀMATĀ: 

SABBE SAṄKHĀRĀ ANICCĀTI. 

TAṀ TATHĀGATO ABHISAMBHUJJHATI ABHISAMETI.

ABHISAMBHUJJHITVĀ ABHISAMETVĀ ĀCIKKHATI DESETI, 

PAÑÑAPETI PAṬṬHAPETI, 

VIVARATI VIBHAJATI UTTĀNĪKAROTI: SABBE SAṄKHĀRĀ ANICCĀTI.

諸比丘!無論如來出現於世間與否,此法常住,法住、法界、法定性:一切行是無常。如來圓滿覺悟觀照此真理。圓滿覺悟觀照之後,他即敘說、教示、建立、闡揚、解說,而彰顯之:一切行是無常。

Bhikkhus, whether there is the appearance of Tathagatas or there is not the appearance of Tathagatas, there is this established condition of Dhamma, this orderliness of the Dhamma: All processes are inconstant. That, a Tathagata has fully awakened to; He fully understands. So awakened and fully understanding, He announces it, points it out, declares, establishes, expounds, explains and clarifies (that): All processes are inconstant.



UPPĀDĀ VĀ BHIKKHAVE TATHĀGATĀNAṀ ANUPPĀDĀ VĀ TATHĀGATĀNAṀ, 

ṬHITĀ VA SĀ DHĀTU DHAMMAṬṬHITATĀ DHAMMANIYĀMATĀ: 

SABBE SAṄKHĀRĀ DUKKHĀTI. 

TAṀ TATHĀGATO ABHISAMBHUJJHATI ABHISAMETI.

ABHISAMBHUJJHITVĀ ABHISAMETVĀ ĀCIKKHATI DESETI, 

PAÑÑAPETI PAṬṬHAPETI,

諸比丘!無論如來出現於世間與否,此法常住,法住、法界、法定性:一切法是無我。如來圓滿覺悟觀照次真理。圓滿覺悟觀照之後,他即敘說、教示、建立、闡揚、解說,而彰顯之:一切法是無我。

Bhikkhus, whether there is the appearance of Tathagatas or there is not the appearance of Tathagatas, there is the established condition of Dhamma, this orderliness of the Dhamma: All phenomena are not-self. That, a Tathagata has fully awakened to; He fully understands. So awakened and understanding, He announces it, points it out, declares, establishes, expounds, explains and clarifies (that): All phenomena are not-self.


IDAMAVOCA BHAGAVĀ. ATTAMANĀ TE BHIKKHŪ BHAGAVATO BHĀSITAṀ ABHINANDUNTI.

佛說此經已。諸比丘聞佛所說,歡喜奉行。

That is what the Blessed One said. Gratified, the monks delighted at his words.



有偈 ARIYADHANA GĀTHĀ
(The Verses on the Noble Wealth)

YASSA SADDHĀ TATHĀGATE ACALĀ SUPATIṬṬHITĀ
誰人對如來的信心是虔誠不動搖的,
Of one having confidence in the Tathāgata unshakable and well-established
SĪLAÑCAYASSA KALYĀṆAṀ ARIYAKANTAṀ PASAṀSITAṀ
善持戒者為聖者所歡喜贊嘆,
whose virtue is excellent, dear to Ariyas and praised by them,
SAṄGHE PASĀDO YASSATTHI UJUBHŪTAÑCA DASSANAṀ
誰人對僧伽有淨信,正直、有證見,
who has faith in the Saṅgha, straightforwardness and understanding.
ADALIDDOTI TAṀ ĀHU AMOGHANTASSA JĪVITAṀ
智者皆說此人不會窮困, 他的一生必定是幸福的,
「He is not poor」, They say, 「Not for vain ends in his life」.
TASMĀ SADDHAÑCA SĪLAÑCA PASĀDAṀ DHAMMADASSANAṀ
因此,智者應當時時培育對如來的信心、戒、
Therefore, confidence and virtue, faith and insight into Dhamma
ANUYUÑJETHA MEDHĀVĪ SARAṀ BUDDHĀNASĀSANANTI. 
對僧伽的淨信以及於法的智見, 並恆常憶念佛陀的教法。
should be cultivated by a wise man, bearing in mind the Buddhas' teachings.

山喻偈 PABBATOPAMA GĀTHĀ
(The Verses on the Mountains)

YATHĀPI SELĀ VIPULĀ NABHAṀ ĀHACCA PABBATĀ
猶如高聳入雲的大石山,
Like gigantic boulders Mountains reaching to the sky
SAMANTĀ ANUPARIYEYYUṀ NIPPOTHENTĀ CATUDDISĀ
周圍輾碾, 壓碎四方,
Moving in from all sides Crushing the four directions.
EVAṀ JARĀ CA MACCU CA ADHIVATTANTI PĀṆINO
衰老與死亡也在不斷地逼臨眾生頭上
In the same way, aging and death Roll over living beings
KHATTIYE BRĀHMAṆE VESSE SUDDE CAṆḌĀLA-PUKKUSE
不管是武士、婆羅門、商人、平民或賤民、挑糞人,
Noble warriors, priests, merchants, Workers, outcastes and scavengers.
NA KIÑCI PARIVAJJETI SABBAMEVĀBHIMADDATI,
一切都粉碎, 誰也不能逃。
They spare nothing. They trample everything.
NA TATTHA HATTHĪNAṀ BHŪMI NA RATHĀNAṀ NA PATTIYĀ
象軍、車軍及步軍,無防老死之方法與餘地。
Here elephants can hold no ground, Nor can chariots or infantry,
NA CĀPI MANTAYUDDHENA SAKKĀ JETUṀ DHANENA VĀ
乃至以咒語戰術 或財寶賄賂之戰,亦無能勝老死的逼迫。
Nor can a battle of spells Or wealth wins out.
TASMĀ HI PAṆḌITO POSO SAMPASSAṀ ATTHAMATTANO
因此,賢者為了自己的利益會這麼想:
So, a wise person, Seeing his own good,
BUDDHE DHAMME CA SAṄGHE CA DHĪRO SADDHAṀ NIVESAYE
於佛、法、僧中起淨信而安住其中,
Secures conviction In the Buddha, Dhamma and Saṅgha.
YO DHAMMACĀRĪ KĀYENA VĀCĀYA UDA CETASĀ
於身、口、意奉行佛法的人,
He who practices the Dhamma in thoughts, words and deed
IDHEVA NAṀ PASAṀSANTI PECCA SAGGE PAMODATI.
此生世人稱譽,未世生天亦欣喜。
Receives praise here on earth And after death rejoices in heaven.

三皈依 SARAṆAGAMANAPĀTHA
(Passages on Going for Refuge)

BUDDHAṀ SARAṆAṀ GACCHĀMI

我皈依佛,

To the BUDDHA I go for Refuge.

DHAMMAṀ SARAṆAṀ GACCHĀMI

我皈依法,

To the DHAMMA I go for Refuge.

SAṄGHAṀ SARAṆAṀ GACCHĀMI

我皈依僧。

To the SAṄGHA I go for Refuge.


DUTIYAMPI BUDDHAṀ SARAṆAṀ GACCHĀMI

第二次,我皈依佛,

For the second time, to the BUDDHA I go for Refuge.

DUTIYAMPI DHAMMAṀ SARAṆAṀ GACCHĀMI

第二次,我皈依法,

For the second time, to the DHAMMA I go for Refuge.

DUTIYAMPI SAṄGHAṀ SARAṆAṀ GACCHĀMI

第二次,我皈依僧。

For the second time, to the SAṄGHA I go for Refuge.


TATIYAMPI BUDDHAṀ SARAṆAṀ GACCHĀMI

第三次,我皈依佛,

For the third time, to the BUDDHA I go for Refuge.

TATIYAMPI DHAMMAṀ SARAṆAṀ GACCHĀMI

第三次,我皈依法,

For the third time, to the DHAMMA I go for Refuge.

TATIYAMPI SAṄGHAṀ SARAṆAṀ GACCHĀMI

第三次,我皈依僧。

For the third time, to the SAṄGHA I go for Refuge.


邀天眾聞法
AN INVITATION TO THE DEVAS

SARAJJAṀ SASENAṀ SABANDHUṀ NARINDAṀ,

PARITTĀNUBHĀVO SADĀ RAKKHANTŪTI, PHARITVĀNA

METTAṀ SAMETTĀ BHADANTĀ, AVIKKHITTACITTĀ PARITTAṀ BHAṆANTU,

願念誦護衛経偈的力量將保護國王/政府和其王國,軍隊和親屬。願尊者以慈悲心,散發慈悲,以不散亂的心念誦護衛経偈。

May the power of protective paritta chanting always protect the king/government and his country, army and kinsmen. May venerable ones with loving kindness, radiating loving kindness, recite protective blessings with an unscattered mind.

SAGGE KĀME CA RŪPE GIRISIKHARATAṬE CANTALIKKHE

VIMĀNE, DĪPE RAṬṬHE CA GĀME TARUVANAGAHANE

GEHAVATTHUMHI KHETTE, BHUMMĀ CĀYANTU DEVĀ

JALATHALAVISAME YAKKHAGANDHABBANĀGĀ, TIṬṬHANTĀ

SANTIKE YAṀ MUNIVARA-VACANAṀ SĀDHAVO ME SUṆANTU,

欲界與色界,空居天直至地居天的天眾們,無論是居住在山峰上、懸崖間,於林間、島嶼、村落、城鎮、樹叢、或居家田野四周,讓這些來自水陸空三際的神祗們乃至夜叉、乾達婆、哪伽等等。願你們皆來聆聽我(等)的誦念,有關牟尼(世尊)的教誨。

Those in the heavens of sensuality and form, on peaks and mountain precipices and in palace floating in heavens, in islands, countries and towns, in groves of trees and thickets, around sites of houses and in the fields. And the Earth-devas, spirits, gandhabbas and nagas in water or on land or in badlands and standing nearby: wherever they are assembled, may they come and listen with approval the excellent speech of the excellent Sage chanted by me

UJUPAṬIPANNO BHAGAVATO SĀVAKASAṄGHO

僧伽是世尊的追隨者,直接地修習奉行佛法的團體 (不取兩端,而實踐中道的行者)。

The SAṄGHA, the Exalted One's disciples, who has practised straightforwardly.

ÑĀYAPAṬIPANNO BHAGAVATO SĀVAKASAṄGHO

僧伽是世尊的追隨者、正確地修習奉行佛法以便脫離苦的團體(以取證涅盤為最終目標的行者)。

The SAṄGHA, the Exalted One's disciples, who has practised rightly.

SĀMĪCIPAṬIPANNO BHAGAVATO SĀVAKASAṄGHO

僧伽是世尊的追隨者,已能依教奉行佛法的團體(梵行清淨的行者)。

The SAṄGHA of the Exalted One's disciples who has practised properly, skilfully;

YADIDAṀ CATTĀRI PURISAYUGĀNI AṬṬHA PURISA-PUGGALĀ

他們即是 : 四雙八輩人 (即是一向、一果、二向、二果、三向、三果及四向、四果) 。

That is, the four pairs of noble men, the eight noble persons,

ESA BHAGAVATO SĀVAKASAṄGHO ĀHUNEYYO PĀHUNEYYO

那才是世尊的追隨者,僧伽。應當虔誠禮敬,應當熱忱歡迎,

That is the SAṄGHA of the Exalted One's disciples, worthy of gifts, worthy of hospitality,

DAKKHIṆEYYO AÑJALIKARAṆĪYO ANUTTARAṀ

應當佈施供養,應當合十敬禮,

Worthy of offerings, worthy of respect,

PUÑÑAKKHETTAṀ LOKASSĀTI. 

是世間的無上福田。

The incomparable field of puñña (merit) for the world.



禮贊僧伽 PRAISE OF THE SAṄGHA

現在讓我們來贊頌僧伽。

Let us now chant the true praise of the SAṄGHA


全體 All:

SADDHAMMAJO SUPAṬIPATTIGUṆĀDIYUTTO

從法而生,僧伽具有 "良好修持" 的美德,

Born of (trained under) the true DHAMMA and having practiced well, that SAṄGHA endowed with virtues,

YOṬṬHABBIDHO ARIYA-PUGGALA SAṄGHA SEṬṬHO

由此八種聖賢所組成,

That supreme Saṅgha formed eight types of Noble ones,

SĪLĀDIDHAMMA-PAVARĀ-SAYA-KĀYA-CITTO

以善持戒律與多種美德(法)引導其身心,

Body and mind guided by such principles as excellent morality and other virtues.

VANDĀMAHAṀ TAMARIYĀNA GAṆAṀ SUSUDDHAṀ

我禮敬過著清淨梵行的聖眾。

I revere that group of Ariyas well-purified of stains.

SAṄGHO YO SABBAPĀṆĪNAṀ SARAṆAṀ KHEMAMUTTAMAṀ
僧伽是一切眾生最安穩之皈依處。
The SAṄGHA who for all beings Is the secure, the highest Refuge,
TATIYĀ-NUSSATIṬṬHĀNAṀ VANDĀMI TAṀ SIRENAHAṀ
第三項我以至高崇敬之心如此億念 : 我俯首禮敬僧伽,
Recollecting thirdly, this way That with my head bow do I revere
SAṄGHASSĀHASMI DĀSO* VA SAṄGHO ME SĀMIKISSARO
女眾念 Women read: DĀSĪ
我是僧伽的僕侍, 僧伽是我的偉大善導 (解脫自在),
I am SAṄGHA's servant The SAṄGHA is my sovereign master,
SAṄGHO DUKKHASSA GHĀTĀ CA VIDHĀTĀ CA HITASSA ME
僧伽是苦的摧毀者, 賜於我滅苦的利益與幸福,
The SAṄGHA is Dukkha's destroyer And provider of happiness for me.
SAṄGHAS-SĀHAṀ NIYYĀDEMI SARĪRAÑ-JĪVITAÑCIDAṀ
對於僧伽,讓我奉獻此身心。
To the SAṄGHA do I dedicate This body and life of mine,
VANDANTOHAṀ* CARISSĀMI SAṄGHAS-SOPAṬIPANNATAṀ
女眾念 Women read: VANDANTĪHAṀ
對於僧伽之 "良好修持",我將恭敬的依教奉行,
I bow with reverence For the genuine practice of the SAṄGHA
NATTHI ME SARAṆAṀ AÑÑAṀ SAṄGHO ME SARAṆAṀ VARAṀ
於我而言,並無其他皈依處, 僧伽是我真正的皈依處。
For me there is no other refuge The SAṄGHA is my foremost Refuge
ETENA SACCAVAJJENA VAḌḌHEYYAṀ SATTHU SĀSANE
以此虔誠的真實語, 願我在導師的正道中成長,
By speaking of this truth May I grow in the Teacher’s instruction
SAṄGHAṀ ME VANDAMĀNENA* YAṀ PUÑÑAṀ PASUTAṀ IDHA
女眾念 Women read: VANDAMĀNĀYA
以此禮敬僧伽的一切功德,
By my reverence for The SAṄGHA Whatever Puñña (merit) is here produced
SABBEPI ANTARĀYĀ ME MĀHESUṀ TASSA TEJASĀ
願一切險難都不生起。
By the power of that, May all my obstructions ceased to be

KĀYENA VĀCĀYA VA CETASĀ VĀ
從我的身、口、意,
By body, by speech and by mind.

SAṄGHE KUKAMMAṀ PAKATAṀ MAYĀ YAṀ
對於僧伽所造的任何惡業,
Whatever evil Kamma has been done by me to the SAṄGHA.

SAṄGHO PAṬIGGAṆHATU ACCAYANTAṀ
請求僧伽容受及原諒我一切的過失。
May the SAṄGHA accept my admission of it.

KĀLANTARE SAṀVARITUṀ VA SAṄGHE.
於未來,對於僧伽,我將會更加謹慎。
So that in future I may show restraint towards the SAṄGHA.

現在讓我們來贊頌及隨念法之功德。

Let us now chant the method of recollecting the DHAMMA.

全體 All:

SVĀKKHĀTO BHAGAVATĀ DHAMMO

世尊所善妙及詳細宣說的法,

Well-expounded is the Exalted One's DHAMMA.

SANDIṬṬHIKO AKĀLIKO EHIPASSIKO

須經過學習及奉行才能親自體會的(自見) ,是可奉行,可得成果,不被時間所限制的 (無時) ,請來親自試試看 (請來看) 。

To be seen here-and-now, timeless, (inviting one to) come-and-see,

OPANAYIKO PACCATTAṀ VEDITABBO VIÑÑUHĪTI.

向內返照(導向) ,智者皆能親自體證 (智者各自證知)。

leading inwards to be seen by each wise man for himself.


禮贊法 PRAISE OF THE DHAMMA

現在讓我們來禮贊法。

Let us now chant the true praise of the Dhamma.


全體 All:

SVĀKKHĀTATĀ-DIGUṆA-YOGA-VASENA SEYYO

法具有善妙及詳盡的殊勝功德。

Excellent, it is well-expounded

YO MAGGA-PĀKA-PARIYATTI-VIMOKKHA-BHEDO

可分為道、果、學位與解脫位。

It is divided into the Path and Fruit, the Study and Liberation

DHAMMO KULOKA-PATANĀ TADA-DHĀRI-DHĀRĪ

護持法者,依教奉行的人,將免墮惡道。

The DHAMMA protect him who holds to it from falling into miserable worlds

VANDĀMAHAṀ TAMAHARAṀ VARA-DHAMMA-METAṀ. 

我虔誠禮敬卓越的法,黑暗的摧毀者。

I revere that excellent and precious DHAMMA, the destroyer of darkness


DHAMMO YO SABBAPĀṆĪNAṀ SARAṆAṀ KHEMAMUTTAMAṀ
法是一切眾生最安穩的皈依處。
The DHAMMA which for all beings Is the secure, the highest Refuge,
DUTIYĀ-NUSSATIṬṬHĀNAṀ VANDĀMI TAṀ SIRENAHAṀ
第二項,我以至高崇敬之心如此憶念 : 我俯首禮敬法,
Recollecting secondly this way That with my head bow do I revere
DHAMMAS-SĀHASMI DĀSO* VA DHAMMO ME SĀMIKISSARO

我是法的僕侍, 法是我的偉大善導(解脫自在)。
I am the DHAMMA's servant The DHAMMA is my sovereign master.

法是苦的摧毀者, 賜於我滅苦的利益與幸福,
The DHAMMA is Dukkha's destroyer And provider of happiness for me

讓我奉獻此身心於法。

TAṀ KHO PANA BHAGAVANTAṀ EVAṀ KALYĀṆO KITTISADDO ABBHUGGATO

世尊的名聲與威望,普遍地傳揚著。

An excellent report of that Exalted One's fame has spread far and wide.

ITIPI SO BHAGAVĀ ARAHAṀ SAMMĀSAMBUDDHO

如是世尊,已遠離塵垢,斷盡無明煩惱的阿羅漢,自證成正等正覺,

He is indeed the Exalted One, far from defilements, Perfectly Enlightened by Himself, fully possessed of wisdom and (excellent) conduct.

VIJJĀCARAṆA SAMPANNO SUGATO LOKAVIDŪ

明行足、善逝、世間解、

One who has gone the good way, Knower of worlds, unexcelled Teacher of those who can be taught

ANUTTARO PURISA-DAMMA-SĀRATHI SATTHĀ DEVA MANUSSĀNAṀ BUDDHO BHAGAVĀTI.

無上士調御丈夫、天人師、佛、世尊。

Teacher of deities and men, the Awakened One, the Lord skilled in teaching DHAMMA.

佛陀具足阿羅漢之崇高美德,

The Buddha, the Arahant, endowed with excellent virtues such as

SUDDHĀ-BHIÑĀṆA-KARUṆĀHI SAMĀGATATTO

清淨無上智慧,以及大慈悲共聚於一身。

Purity, supreme knowledge and compassion

BODHESI YO SUJANATAṀ KAMALAṀ VA SŪRO

他使智者覺醒,猶如太陽照耀,促使蓮花的開放。

He, like the sun does with lotuses, awakens wise people.

VANDĀMAHAṀ TAMARAṆAṀ SIRASĀ JINENDAṀ

我禮敬無上清淨的征服者 (征服無名煩惱)。

I revere with my head bow, the Supreme Conqueror, that Peaceful One.

BUDDHO YO SABBAPĀṆĪNAṀ SARAṆAṀ KHEMAMUTTAMAṀ
佛,是一切眾生最安穩之皈依處。

SABBE SATTĀ AVERĀ HONTU ABYĀPAJJHĀ HONTU ANĪGHĀ HONTU SUKHĪ ATTĀNAṀ PARIHARANTU 
願一切有情沒有怨恨,沒有嗔怒,沒有煩惱,內心充滿喜悅。
All beings, may they be free of enmity, may they be free from ill-treatment, may they be free from troubles (of body and mind), and may they protect their own happiness. 

SABBE PĀṆĀ AVERĀ HONTU ABYĀPAJJHĀ HONTU ANĪGHĀ HONTU SUKHĪ ATTĀNAṀ PARIHARANTU 
願一切眾生沒有怨恨,沒有嗔怒,沒有煩惱,內心充滿喜悅。 
All living creatures, may they be free of enmity, may they be free from ill-treatment, may they be free from troubles (of body and mind), and may they protect their own happiness. 

SABBE BHŪTĀ AVERĀ HONTU ABYĀPAJJHĀ HONTU ANĪGHĀ HONTU SUKHĪ ATTĀNAṀ PARIHARANTU 
願一切生類沒有怨恨,沒有嗔怒,沒有煩惱,內心充滿喜悅。 
All creatures, may they be free of enmity, may they be free from ill-treatment, may they be free from troubles (of body and mind), and may they protect their own happiness. 

SABBE PUGGALĀ AVERĀ HONTU ABYĀPAJJHĀ HONTU ANĪGHĀ HONTU SUKHĪ ATTĀNAṀ PARIHARANTU 
願一切個體沒有怨恨,沒有嗔怒,沒有煩惱,內心充滿喜悅。 
All individuals, may they be free of enmity, may they be free from ill-treatment, may they be free from troubles (of body and mind), and may they protect their own happiness. 

SABBE ATTA-BHĀVA-PARIYĀPANNĀ AVERĀ HONTU ABYĀPAJJHĀ HONTU ANĪGHĀ HONTU SUKHĪ ATTĀNAṀ PARIHARANTU 
願一切擁有自體者沒有怨恨,沒有嗔怒,沒有煩惱,內心充滿喜悅。 
All forms of life, may they be free of enmity, may they be free from ill-treatment, may they be free from troubles (of body and mind), and may they protect their own happiness.

AHAṀ SUKHITO HOMI, NIDDUKKHO HOMI, AVERO HOMI, ABYĀPAJJHO HOMI, ANĪGHO HOMI, SUKHĪ ATTĀNAṀ PARIHARĀMI. 
願我快樂。願我沒有痛苦。願我沒有怨恨。願我沒有嗔怒。願我沒有煩惱。願我內心充滿喜悅。 
May I be happy, May I be free from stress and pain, May I be free from enmity, May I be free from ill-treatment, May I be free from troubles (of body and mind), May I look after myself with ease. 

IDAṀ ME PUÑÑAṀ MĀTĀPITŪNAṀ HOTU SUKHITĀ HONTU MĀTĀPITARO 
願以此功德,回向給予母親與父親,願他們快樂。 
May our fathers and mothers be well and happy and be free from suffering. 

IDAṀ ME PUÑÑAṀ ÑĀTĪNAṀ HOTU SUKHITĀ HONTU ÑĀTAYO 
願以此功德,回向給予我的親屬,願他們快樂。 
May our relatives and friends be well and happy and be free from suffering. 

IDAṀ ME PUÑÑAṀ GARŪPAJJHĀYĀCARIYĀNAṀ HOTU SUKHITĀ HONTU GARŪPAJJHĀYĀCARIYĀ 
願以此功德,回向給予我的師長與戒師,願他們快樂。 
May our masters and teachers be well and happy and be free from suffering.
 
IDAṀ ME PUÑÑAṀ SABBADEVATĀNAṀ HOTU SUKHITĀ HONTU SABBEDEVĀ 
願以此功德,回向給予諸天神,願他們快樂。 
May all Devas be well and happy and be free from suffering. 

IDAṀ ME PUÑÑAṀ SABBAPETĀNAṀ HOTU SUKHITĀ HONTU SABBEPETĀ 
願以此功德,回向給予諸餓鬼,願他們快樂。 
May all beings in the lower realms be well and happy and be free from suffering. 

IDAṀ ME PUÑÑAṀ SABBAVERĪNAṀ HOTU SUKHITĀ HONTU SABBEVERĪ 
願以此功德,回向給予所有敵對者,願他們快樂。 
May our enemies be well and happy and be free from suffering. 

IDAṀ ME PUÑÑAṀ SABBASATTĀNAṀ HOTU SUKHITĀ HONTU SABBESATTĀ 
願以此功德,回向給予一切眾生,願他們快樂。 
May all living beings be well and happy and be free from suffering.
 
IDAṀ NO(ME) PUÑYABHĀGAṀ SABBASATTĀNAṀ DEMA(DEMI) 
願我們(我)此功德可以與所有眾生分享。
May all beings share in our(my) accrued merits.

YĀ DEVATĀ SANTI VIHĀRAVĀSINĪ

願居住於這寺院、

The devatas which dwell in the temple,

THŪPE GHARE BODHIGHARE TAHIṀ TAHIṀ

佛塔、及菩提樹周圍的天眾神祗們,

In the pagoda, in the Bodhi tree,

TĀ DHAMMADĀNENA BHAVANTU PŪJITĀ

得到這份法的供養,

Those devatas we have worshipped with objects of offering

SOTTHIṀ KARONTEDHA VIHĀRAMAṆḌALE

願他們為這寺院帶來安寧。

May they grant happiness in the circle of this temple.

THERĀ CA MAJJHĀ NAVAKĀ CA BHIKKHAVO

願這寺院中的新舊比丘及長老們,

Monks who are elders, those of middle rank, those who have just become monks,

SĀRĀMIKĀ DĀNAPATĪ UPĀSAKĀ

以及居住於這寺院中的男女、優婆塞、優婆夷、

Laymen and laywomen of good breeding, temple dwellers,

GĀMĀ CA DESĀ NIGAMĀ CA ISSARĀ

村鎮中的人及其首領乃至一切的有情,

All householders, country men, villagers, those who are chieftains,

SAPPĀṆABHŪTĀ SUKHITĀ BHAVANTU TE

願他們也都得到幸福與安樂。

May they and all creatures attain happiness.

JALĀBUJĀ YEPI CA AṆḌASAMBHAVĀ

願一切(四生) 濕生、卵生、

May all creatures whether born from water, from an egg,

SAṀSEDAJĀTĀ ATHAVOPAPĀTIKĀ

化生、胎生的眾生

From moisture, or from the womb,

NIYYĀNIKAṀ DHAMMAVARAṀ PAṬICCA TE

都能依著佛法而解脫,

May they have the precious Dhamma which leads to the good way;

SABBEPI DUKKHASSA KARONTU SAṄKHAYAṀ. 

滅盡所有的痛苦。

May it bring an end to suffering.


THĀTU CIRAṀ SATAṀ DHAMMO DHAMMADDHARĀ CA PUGGALĀ
願那些依法奉行的人,獲得長壽,願正法常住。
May the Dhamma of good people long abide live long. And may people who observe the Dhamma
SAṄGHO HOTU SAMAGGO VA ATTHĀYA CA HITĀYA CA
願僧團和合安樂,為我們帶來利益與安樂。
May the Saṅgha be ever ready To bring benefits and assistance
AMHE RAKKHATU SADDHAMMO SABBEPI DHAMMACĀRINO

VUḌḌHIṀ SAMPĀPUṆEYYĀMA DHAMME ARIYAPPAVEDITE
願我們都在聖者的正道中成長。
May we all progress in the Dhamma Which the Noble One has made manifest
PASANNĀ HONTU SABBEPI PĀṆINO BUDDHASĀSANE
願一切眾生對佛陀的教法都能生起虔誠的信仰。
May all beings have faith In the Teaching of the Buddha;
SAMMĀ DHĀRAṀ PAVECCHANTO KĀLE DEVO PAVASSATU
願大地風調雨順,
May it rain in time After properly bestowing showers;
VUḌḌHIBHĀVĀYA SATTĀNAṀ SAMIDDHAṀ NETU MEDANIṀ
欣欣向榮,人民安樂。
May the earth, for the prosperity of beings Bring about success (good harvest);
MĀTĀ PITĀ CA ATRAJAṀ NICCAṀ RAKKHANTI PUTTAKAṀ
猶如父母親保護子女一般,
A mother and a father Always protect their own child,
EVAṀ DHAMMENA RĀJĀNO PAJAṀ RAKKHANTU SABBADĀ.
願所有的統治者們住於正法之中,護衛子民。
So according to the Dhamma May the kings/government always protect theirsubjects.

三十波羅蜜 TIṀSA PĀRAMĪ
(The Thirty Perfections)

PAṬHAMAṀ DĀNA PĀRAMĪ DĀNA UPAPĀRAMĪ DĀNA PARAMATTHA PĀRAMĪ

第一,普通佈施波羅蜜,上乘佈施波羅蜜,最高佈施波羅蜜。

First, the ordinary Perfection of Charity, the superior Perfection of Charity, the supreme Perfection of Charity.

DUTIYAṀ SĪLA PĀRAMĪ SĪLA UPAPĀRAMĪ SĪLAPARAMATTHA PĀRAMĪ

第二,普通持戒波羅蜜,上乘持戒波羅蜜,最高持戒波羅蜜。

Second, the ordinary Perfection of Morality, the superior Perfection of Morality, the supreme Perfection of Morality.

TATIYAṀ NEKKHAMMA PĀRAMĪ NEKKHAMMA UPAPĀRAMĪ NEKKHAMMAPARAMATTHA PĀRAMĪ

第三,普通出離波羅蜜,上乘出離波羅蜜,最高出離波羅蜜。

Third, the ordinary Perfection of Renunciation, the superior Perfection of Renunciation, the supreme Perfection of Renunciation.

CATUTTHAṀ PAÑÑĀ PĀRAMĪ PAÑÑĀ UPAPĀRAMĪ PAÑÑĀPARAMATTHA PĀRAMĪ

第四,普通智慧波羅蜜,上乘智慧波羅蜜,最高智慧波羅蜜。

Fourth, the ordinary Perfection of Wisdom, the superior Perfection of Wisdom, the supreme Perfection of Wisdom

PAÑCAMAṀ VIRIYA PĀRAMĪ VIRIYA UPAPĀRAMĪ VIRIYAPARAMATTHA PĀRAMĪ

第五,普通精進波羅蜜,上乘精進波羅蜜,最高精進波羅蜜。

Fifth, the ordinary Perfection of Energy, the superior Perfection of Energy, the supreme Perfection of Energy.

CHAṬṬAMAṀ KHANTĪ PĀRAMĪ KHANTĪ UPAPĀRAMĪ KHANTĪPARAMATTHA PĀRAMĪ

第六,普通忍辱波羅蜜,上乘忍辱波羅蜜,最高忍辱波羅蜜。

Sixth, the ordinary Perfection of Patience, the superior Perfection of Patience, the supreme Perfection of Patience.

SATTAMAṀ SACCĀ PĀRAMĪ SACCĀ UPAPĀRAMĪ SACCĀPARAMATTHA PĀRAMĪ

第七,普通真實波羅蜜,上乘真實波羅蜜,最高真實波羅蜜。

Seventh, the ordinary Perfection of Truthfulness, the superior Perfection of Truthfulness, the supreme Perfection of Truthfulness.

AṬṬHAMAṀ ADHIṬṬHĀNA PĀRAMĪ ADHIṬṬHĀNA UPAPĀRAMĪ ADHIṬṬHĀNAPARAMATTHA PĀRAMĪ

第八,普通決意波羅蜜,,上乘決意波羅蜜,最高決意波羅蜜。

Eighth, the ordinary Perfection of Resolution, the superior Perfection of Resolution, the supreme Perfection of Resolution.

NAVAMAṀ METTĀ PĀRAMĪ METTĀ UPAPĀRAMĪ METTĀPARAMATTHA PĀRAMĪ

第九,普通慈心波羅蜜,上乘慈心波羅蜜,最高慈心波羅蜜。

Ninth, the ordinary Perfection of Loving-kindness, the superior Perfection of Loving-kindness, the supreme Perfection of Loving-kindness.

DASAMAṀ UPPEKKHĀ PĀRAMĪ UPPEKKHĀ UPAPĀRAMĪ UPPEKKHĀPARAMATTHA PĀRAMĪ

第十,普通捨棄波羅蜜,上乘捨棄波羅蜜,最高捨棄波羅蜜。

Tenth, the ordinary Perfection of Equanimity, the superior Perfection of Equanimity, the supreme Perfection of Equanimity.

SAMA TIṀSA PĀRAMĪ MYTRI METTĀ KARUṆĀ MUDITĀ UPEKKHĀ KUSALA SAMPANNO.

這三十種波羅蜜,加友情,慈心,悲心,喜心,捨心皆具足。

All the thirty Perfections, together with friendship, loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, equanimity abound with wholesomeness.

五蘊重擔 BHĀRA-SUTTA GĀTHĀ
(Verses from the Burden Discourse)

BHĀRĀ HAVE PAÑCAKKHANDHĀ, BHĀRAHĀRO CA PUGGALO

五蘊是難以背負的啊!人們背著這沈重的負擔,

The five aggregates are truly a burden, and the individual is what carries the burden.

BHĀRĀDĀNAṀ DUKKHAṀ, LOKE BHĀRA-NIKKHEPANAṀ SUKHAṀ. 

背起這麼重的東西是世間的苦,把它放下是安樂,

To take up the burden is to suffer in the world, to throw off the burden is bliss.

NIKKHIPITVĀ GARUṀ BHĀRAṀ, AÑÑAṀ BHĀRAṀ ANĀDIYA

(諸位聖者)已將這負擔放下了,也不再拿起其它負擔,

Having thrown off the heavy burden, and not taking on another,

SAMŪLAṀ TAṆHAṀ ABBUḶHA, NICCHĀTO PARINIBBUTOTI.

他已將渴愛連根拔除了,已完全結束了慾望,完全熄滅了,一點也不余留。

One pulls out craving, root and all — Free from desire, totally unbound.


安穩皈依處 KHEMĀKHEMASARAṆAGAMANAPARIDĪPIKA GĀTHĀ
(The Verses on the Secure Refuge )

BAHUṀ VE SARAṆAṀ YANTI PABBATĀNI VANĀNI CA,
諸人恐怖故, 去皈依山嶽,
Many are those who go for refuge to mountains, forests
ĀRĀMA-RUKKHA-CETYĀNI MANUSSĀ BHAYATAJJITĀ.
或皈依樹林,園苑,樹,浮屠。
parks, trees and shrines: People threatened with danger.
NETAṀ KHO SARAṆAṀ KHEMAṀ NETAṀ SARAṆAMUTTAMAṀ,
此不是安穩的皈依處, 此不是最上的皈依處,
That is not the secure refuge, that is not the highest refuge,
NETAṀ SARAṆAMĀGAMMA, SABBADUKKHĀ PAMUCCATI.
像這樣皈依的人,不能離一切苦。
that is not the refuge, having gone to which, one gains release from all suffering.
YO CA BUDDHAÑ-CA DHAMMAÑ-CA SAṄGHAÑ-CA SARAṆAṀ GATO,
若人以佛法僧為皈依,
But a person who, having gone to the Buddha, Dhamma and Saṅgha for refuge,
CATTĀRI ARIYASACCĀNI SAMMAPPAÑÑĀYA PASSATI:
由於正確的智慧, 得見於四聖諦。
sees the four Noble Truths with right discernment:
DUKKHAṀ DUKKHA-SAMUPPĀDAṀ, DUKKHASSA CA ATIKKAMAṀ,
那即是見到苦, 苦生起的原因,
Stress, the cause of stress, the transcending of stress,
ARIYAÑ-CAṬṬHAṄGIKAṀ MAGGAṀ DUKKHŪPASAMAGĀMINAṀ.
苦的熄滅及導致苦熄滅的八支聖道。
and the Noble Eightfold Path, the way to the stilling of stress.
ETAṀ KHO SARAṆAṀ KHEMAṀ ETAṀ SARAṆAMUTTAMAṀ,
這才是無上的皈依處,
that is the highest refuge,
ETAṀ SARAṆAMĀGAMMA, SABBADUKKHĀ PAMUCCATĪTI.
像這樣皈依的人, 能解脫一切苦。
that is the refuge, having gone to which, one gains release from all suffering.

佛陀最初的偈頌 PAṬHAMABUDDHABHĀSITA GĀTHĀ
(The First Word of the Buddha)

ANEKAJĀTI SAṀSĀRAṀ SANDHĀVISSAṀ ANIBBISAṀ
在生死輪回當中,我尋找了許多世,
Before discovering True Knowledge, I cycled round in myriad births,
GAHAKĀRAṀ GAVESANTO DUKKHĀ JĀTI PUNAPPUNAṀ
卻找不到造屋者。一再投生的確苦。
Searching for the Builder of this house, Craving, that creates ego existence. Each new birth brings more suffering.
GAHAKĀRAKA DIṬṬHOSI PUNA GEHAṀ NA KĀHASI
造屋者(慾望)你已被發現了!你已不能再造屋。
Now I know you, builder of this house, you won't imprison me anymore.
SABBĀ TE PHĀSUKĀ BHAGGĀ GAHAKŪṬAṀ VISAṀKHATAṀ
你所有的椽(染著)已斷,你的橫梁(無明)已粉碎。
I have pulled down your ridgepole and razed your framework to the ground.
VISAṄKHĀRAGATAṀ CITTAṀ TAṆHĀNAṀ KHAYAMAJJHAGĀTI
我心已證無為法。已經達到愛盡毀。
My mind has entered into that in which nothing can stir it up again (i.e. unconditioned), arriving at craving's final act (i.e. destruction of craving), the unsurpassed peace of Nibbāna.

一夜賢者偈 BHADDEKARATTA GĀTHĀ
( The Verses on an Auspicious Night )

ATĪTAM NĀNVĀGAMEYYA NAPPAṬIKAṀKHE ANĀGATAṀ
不應沈湎過去,亦別期盼未來;
One ought not to chase after the past. Nor be anxious over things that are yet to come
YADATĪTAMPAHĪNANTAṀ APPATTAÑCA ANĀGATAṀ
過去已經過去, 未來還未到來。
The past has left us, the future has not yet arrived.
PACCUPPANNAÑCA YO DHAMMAṀ TATTHA TATTHA VIPASSATI
應當透過智慧,觀照當下之法,
See and contemplate the present dhammas with mindfulness, direct and clear, just as they are, whatever the quality, not taken in, unshakable, immovable.
ASAṀHIRAṀ ASAṀKUPPAṀ TAṀ VIDDHĀ MANUBRŪHAYE
正確地了知它,堅定且不動搖。
That’s how one should develop the heart, should accumulate such moments.
AJJEVA KICCAMĀTAPPAṀ KO JAÑÑĀ MARAṆAṀ SUVE
今日就應努力,誰知明日便死;
Effort is the duty of today. Even tomorrow who can know? Death may come.
NA HI NO SAṀGARANTENA MAHĀSENENA MACCUNĀ
跟死亡之大軍,無法討價還價。
For it is beyond our power to delay Death and its great armies.
EVAṀ VIHĀRIMĀTĀPIṀ AHORATTAMATANDITAṀ
如此熱忱安住,日夜都在精進;
The Sages of Peace say of that one who strives ardently, never lazy throughout the entire day and night:
TAṀ VE BHADDEKARATTOTI SANTO ĀCIKKHATE MUNĪTI.
寂靜聖賢稱之:賢善渡過一夜。
"Praise the one who truly lives for even a single night."

佛自說偈 BUDDHA-UDĀNA GĀTHĀ
( The Three Inspired Verses )

YADĀ HAVE PĀTUBHAVANTI DHAMMĀ, 

ĀTĀPINO JHĀYATO BRĀHMAṆASSA, 

ATHASSA KAṄKHĀVAPAYANTI SABBĀ, 

YATO PAJĀNĀTI SAHETUDHAMMAṀ. 

當諸法顯現於精勤禪修的婆羅門時,他將疑惑冰消,因為他了知所有一切法皆有其因緣。

Whenever all Dhamma teachings appear to Brahmas who burn defilement regularly and diligently, their doubts, at that time, are removed because they understand the cause of Dhamma.


YADĀ HAVE PĀTUBHAVANTI DHAMMĀ, 

ĀTĀPINO JHĀYATO BRĀHMAṆASSA, 

ATHASSA KAṄKHĀ VAPAYANTI SABBĀ, 

YATO KHAYAṀ PACCAYĀNAṀ AVEDI.

當諸法顯現於精勤禪修的婆羅門時,他將疑惑冰消,因為他了知因緣的滅盡。

Whenever all Dhamma teachings appear to Brahmas, who burn defilement regularly and diligently, their doubts, at that time, are removed because they know the end of Dhamma (which is a factor).


YADĀ HAVE PĀTUBHAVANTI DHAMMĀ, 

ĀTĀPINO JHĀYATO BRĀHMAṆASSA, 

VIDHŪPAYAṀ TIṬṬHATI MĀRASENAṀ, 

SŪROVA OBHĀSAYAMANTALIKKHANTI.

當諸法顯現於精勤禪修的婆羅門時,他將大破魔軍,昂然端立,猶如太陽遍照虛空。 

Whenever all Dhamma teachings appear to Brahmas, who burn defilement regularly and diligently, they are capable of getting rid of Mārā and the chief of Māra, like the sun shining brightly in the sky.


緣起 PAṬICCASAMUPPĀDA PĀṬHO
( Passages on the Stages of Insight )

AVIJJĀ-PACCAYĀ SAṄKHĀRĀ, 
緣於無明,行生起; 
Dependent on ignorance arises moral and immoral conditioning activities; 

SAṄKHĀRA-PACCAYĀ VIÑÑĀṆAṀ, 
緣於行,識生起; 
Dependent on conditioning activities arises consciousness; 

VIÑÑĀṆA-PACCAYĀ NĀMARŪPAṀ, 
緣於識,名色生起; 
Dependent on consciousness arises mind-and-matter; 

NĀMARŪPA-PACCAYĀ SAḶĀYATANAṀ, 
緣於名色,六處生起; 
Dependent on mind-and-matter arises the six sense spheres;

SAḶĀYATANA-PACCAYĀ PHASSO, 
緣於六處,觸生起; 
Dependent on the six sense spheres arises contact; 

PHASSA-PACCAYĀ VEDANĀ, 
緣於觸,受生起; 
Dependent on contact arises feeling; 

VEDANĀ-PACCAYĀ TAṆHĀ, 
緣於受,愛生起; 
Dependent on feeling arises craving; 

TAṆHĀ-PACCAYĀ UPĀDĀNAṀ, 
緣於愛,取生起; 
Dependent on craving arises grasping; 

UPĀDĀNA-PACCAYĀ BHAVO, 
緣於取,有生起; 
Dependent on grasping arises becoming; 

BHAVA-PACCAYĀ JĀTI, 
緣於有,生生起; 
Dependent on becoming arises birth; 

JĀTI-PACCAYĀ JARĀMARAṆAṀ 
緣於生,老、 
Dependent on birth arises decay; 

SOKAPARIDEVADUKKHADOMANASSUPĀYĀSĀ SAMBHAVANTI, 
死、愁、悲、苦、憂、惱生起。 
Dependent on decay arises death, sorrow, lamentation, pain, grief and despair. 

EVAMETASSA KEVALASSA DUKKHAKKHANDHASSA SAMUDAYO HOTI. 
如是整個苦蘊的集起。 
Thus is the arising of this whole mass of suffering. 

AVIJJĀYATVEVA ASESAVIRĀGANIRODHĀ SAṄKHĀRANIRODHO, 
無明滅盡離欲無余則行滅; 
With the cessation of ignorance, conditioning activities ceases; 

SAṄKHĀRANIRODHĀ VIÑÑĀNANIRODHO, 
行滅則識滅; 
With the cessation of conditioning activities, consciousness ceases; 

VIÑÑĀNANIRODHĀ NĀMARŪPANIRODHO, 
識滅則名色滅; 
With the cessation of consciousness, mind and-matter ceases; 

NĀMARŪPANIRODHĀ SAḶĀYATANANIRODHO, 
名色滅則六處滅; 
With the cessation of mind-and-matter, the six sense spheres cease; 

SAḶĀYATANANIRODHĀ PHASSANIRODHO, 
六處滅則觸滅; 
With the cessation of the six sense spheres, contact ceases; 

PHASSANIRODHĀ VEDANĀNIRODHO, 
觸滅則受滅; 
With the cessation of contact, feeling ceases; 

VEDANĀNIRODHĀ TAṆHĀNIRODHO, 
受滅則愛滅; 
with the cessation of feeling, craving ceases; 

TAṆHĀNIRODHĀ UPĀDĀNANIRODHO, 
愛滅則取滅; 
With the cessation of craving, grasping ceases; 

UPĀDĀNANIRODHĀ BHAVANIRODHO, 
取滅則有滅; 
With the cessation of grasping, becoming ceases; 

BHAVANIRODHĀ JĀTINIRODHO, 
有滅則生滅; 
With the cessation of becoming, birth ceases; 

JĀTINIRODHĀ JARĀMARAṆAṀ, 
生滅則老、死、 
With the cessation of birth, decay, death, 

SOKAPARIDEVADUKKHADOMANASSUPĀYĀSĀ NIRUJJHANTI, 
愁、悲、苦、憂、惱滅。 
sorrow, lamentation, pain, grief, and despair ceases. 

EVAMETASSA KEVALASSA DUKKHAKKHANDHASSA NIRODHO HOTI. 
如是整個苦蘊的熄滅。
Thus is the cessation of this whole mass of suffering. 

三法印 TILAKKHAṆĀDI GĀTHĀ
(Verses on the Three Characteristics)

SABBE SAṄKHĀRĀ ANICCĀTI YADĀ PAÑÑĀYA PASSATI
諸行是無常 以慧照見時,
All processes are inconstant, When one sees it with discernment
ATHA NIBBINDATI DUKKHE ESA MAGGO VISUDDHIYĀ
就會厭離苦。 這是清淨道。
one grows disenchanted with stress, this is the path to purity.
SABBE SAṄKHĀRĀ DUKKHĀTI YADĀ PAÑÑĀYA PASSATI
諸行皆是苦, 以慧照見時,
All processes are stressful, when one sees it with discernment,
ATHA NIBBINDATI DUKKHE ESA MAGGO VISUDDHIYĀ
就會厭離苦。 這是清淨道。
one grows disenchanted with stress, this is the path to purity.
SABBE DHAMMĀ ANATTĀTI YADĀ PAÑÑĀYA PASSATI
諸法皆無我, 以慧照見時,
All processes are not-self, when one sees it with discernment
ATHA NIBBINDATI DUKKHE ESA MAGGO VISUDDHIYĀ
就會厭離苦。 這是清淨道。
one grows disenchanted with stress, this is the path to purity.
APPAKĀ TE MANUSSESU YE JANĀ PĀRAGĀMINO
在這些人群中, 能夠渡彼岸的人很少,
Few are the human beings who go to the Further Shore.
ATHĀYAṀ ITARĀ PAJĀ TĪRAMEVĀNUDHĀVATI
至於其餘的人, 都徘徊於此岸。
these others simply scurry around on this shore.
YE CA KHO SAMMADAKKHĀTE DHAMME DHAMMĀNUVATTINO
那些善於遵照正法, 依教奉行的人,
But those who practice the Dhamma in line with the well-taught Dhamma,
TE JANĀ PĀRAMESSANTI MACCUDHEYYAṀ SUDUTTARAṀ
他們將能到達彼岸, 渡過那難渡的死亡領域。
they will cross over Death's realm, so hard to transcend.
KAṆHAṀ DHAMMAṀ VIPPAHĀYA SUKKAṀ BHĀVETHA PAṆḌITO
作為智者,應捨棄黑暗的法, 而開展清淨光明的法。
Abandoning dark practices, the wise should develop the bright.
OKĀ ANOKAMĀGAMMA VIVEKE YATTHA DŪRAMAṀ
由在家而出家, 喜歡獨處於幽僻之地,
having gone from home to homelessness in seclusion, so hard to relish.
TATRĀBHIRATIMICCHEYYA HITVĀ KĀME AKIÑCANO
應當求的是法樂, 捨棄欲而無所要求,
There he should wish for delight, having discarded sensuality, he who has nothing.
PARIYODAPEYYA ATTĀNAṀ CITTAKLESEHI PAṆḌITO
智者喜歡於清淨, 去除自心的污垢。
He should cleanse himself, The wise one, of mental defilements.
YESAṀ SAMBODHIYAṄGESU SAMMĀ CITTAṀ SUBHĀVITAṀ
若人在正覺之法中, 正心清淨,
Whose minds are well-developed in the Factors for Awakening,
ĀDĀNAPAṬINISSAGGE ANUPĀDĀYA YE RATĀ
捨諸執取, 樂於無著,
who delight in non-clinging, relinquishing grasping,
KHĪṆĀSAVĀ JUTIMANTO TE LOKE PARINIBBUTĀTI.
諸漏滅盡有光明, 彼等於此世得涅槃。
glorious, free of effluent: They are unbound in the world
