緣於無明,行生起;
Dependent on ignorance arises moral and immoral conditioning activities;
SAṄKHĀRA-PACCAYĀ VIÑÑĀṆAṀ,
緣於行,識生起;
Dependent on conditioning activities arises consciousness;
VIÑÑĀṆA-PACCAYĀ NĀMARŪPAṀ,
緣於識,名色生起;
Dependent on consciousness arises mind-and-matter;
NĀMARŪPA-PACCAYĀ SAḶĀYATANAṀ,
緣於名色,六處生起;
Dependent on mind-and-matter arises the six sense spheres;
SAḶĀYATANA-PACCAYĀ PHASSO,
緣於六處,觸生起;
Dependent on the six sense spheres arises contact;
PHASSA-PACCAYĀ VEDANĀ,
緣於觸,受生起;
Dependent on contact arises feeling;
VEDANĀ-PACCAYĀ TAṆHĀ,
緣於受,愛生起;
Dependent on feeling arises craving;
TAṆHĀ-PACCAYĀ UPĀDĀNAṀ,
緣於愛,取生起;
Dependent on craving arises grasping;
UPĀDĀNA-PACCAYĀ BHAVO,
緣於取,有生起;
Dependent on grasping arises becoming;
BHAVA-PACCAYĀ JĀTI,
緣於有,生生起;
Dependent on becoming arises birth;
JĀTI-PACCAYĀ JARĀMARAṆAṀ
緣於生,老、
Dependent on birth arises decay;
SOKAPARIDEVADUKKHADOMANASSUPĀYĀSĀ SAMBHAVANTI,
死、愁、悲、苦、憂、惱生起。
Dependent on decay arises death, sorrow, lamentation, pain, grief and despair.
EVAMETASSA KEVALASSA DUKKHAKKHANDHASSA SAMUDAYO HOTI.
如是整個苦蘊的集起。
Thus is the arising of this whole mass of suffering.
AVIJJĀYATVEVA ASESAVIRĀGANIRODHĀ SAṄKHĀRANIRODHO,
無明滅盡離欲無余則行滅;
With the cessation of ignorance, conditioning activities ceases;
SAṄKHĀRANIRODHĀ VIÑÑĀNANIRODHO,
行滅則識滅;
With the cessation of conditioning activities, consciousness ceases;
VIÑÑĀNANIRODHĀ NĀMARŪPANIRODHO,
識滅則名色滅;
With the cessation of consciousness, mind and-matter ceases;
NĀMARŪPANIRODHĀ SAḶĀYATANANIRODHO,
名色滅則六處滅;
With the cessation of mind-and-matter, the six sense spheres cease;
SAḶĀYATANANIRODHĀ PHASSANIRODHO,
六處滅則觸滅;
With the cessation of the six sense spheres, contact ceases;
PHASSANIRODHĀ VEDANĀNIRODHO,
觸滅則受滅;
With the cessation of contact, feeling ceases;
VEDANĀNIRODHĀ TAṆHĀNIRODHO,
受滅則愛滅;
with the cessation of feeling, craving ceases;
TAṆHĀNIRODHĀ UPĀDĀNANIRODHO,
愛滅則取滅;
With the cessation of craving, grasping ceases;
UPĀDĀNANIRODHĀ BHAVANIRODHO,
取滅則有滅;
With the cessation of grasping, becoming ceases;
BHAVANIRODHĀ JĀTINIRODHO,
有滅則生滅;
With the cessation of becoming, birth ceases;
JĀTINIRODHĀ JARĀMARAṆAṀ,
生滅則老、死、
With the cessation of birth, decay, death,
SOKAPARIDEVADUKKHADOMANASSUPĀYĀSĀ NIRUJJHANTI,
愁、悲、苦、憂、惱滅。
sorrow, lamentation, pain, grief, and despair ceases.
EVAMETASSA KEVALASSA DUKKHAKKHANDHASSA NIRODHO HOTI.
如是整個苦蘊的熄滅。
Thus is the cessation of this whole mass of suffering.
