SĪTAṀ UṆHAṀ PAṬIHANTI TATO VĀḶAMIGĀNI CA
SIRIṀSAPE CA MAKASE SISIRE CĀPI VUṬṬHIYO.
TATO VĀTĀTAPO GHORO SAÑJĀTO PAṬIHAÑÑATI.
它們抵禦寒冷、炎熱和猛獸。在雨季時抵禦爬行的東西、昆蟲和雨水。可怕的熱風生起時也被擋住。They ward off cold and heat and beasts of prey. And creeping things and gnats and rains in the wet season. When the dreaded hot wind arises, it is warded off.
LENATTHAÑCA SUKHATTHAÑCA JHĀYITUṀ CA VIPASSITUṀ
VIHĀRADĀNAṀ SAṄGHASSA AGGAṀ BUDDHEHI VAṆṆITAṀ.
為了遮蔽，為了方便（支持）冥想和獲得智慧，提供住處被世尊稱讚為給予僧伽最佳的供奉。
For shelter, for ease (to support) to meditate and obtain insight, the gift of a dwelling place is praised by the awakened ones as foremost gift to an Order.
TASMĀ HI PAṆḌITO POSO SAMPASSAṀ ATTHAMATTANO
VIHĀRE KĀRAYE RAMME VĀSAYETTHA BAHUSSUTE.
因此，智者預見其益處，因而興建這愉悅的住處以讓修行的人可以住在此處。
So a wise person, envisioning his own benefit, should have delightful dwellings built so that the learned may stay there.
TESAṀ ANNAÑCA PĀNAÑCA VATTHASENĀSANĀNI CA
DADEYYA UJUBHŪTESU VIPPASANNENA CETASĀ.
TE TASSA DHAMMAṀ DESENTI SABBADUKKHĀPANŪDANAṀ
YAṀ SO DHAMMAMIDHAÑÑĀYA PARINIBBĀTYANĀSAVOTI.
他應該以清晰明亮的覺知，提供他們（已成為正直的人）食物和飲料，衣物和配件。他們將教他消除一切煩惱的佛法，好讓他知道法就在眼前，而證得涅槃。
He should, with an awareness clear and bright, give them — those who’ve become upright, food and drink, clothing and accoutrements (accessories). They will teach him the Dhamma dispelling all ills so that he — knowing the Dhamma right there — totally unbinds, effluent-free.
