慈心應作經(慈愛經) KARAṆĪYAMETTA SUTTA
(The Discourse on Loving-Kindness)

KARAṆĪYA MATTHA KUSALENA YAṄTAṀ SANTAṀ PADAṀ ABHISAMECCA
This is what should be done by one skilled in good who would attain that State of Peace:
一位善於行善的人應如是作,以便獲得(內心的)寂靜與安祥,
SAKKO UJŪ CA SUHUJŪ CA SUVACO CASSA MUDU ANATIMĀNĪ
He should be able, upright, truly straight, and meek and gentle and not proud,
(他應培養以下的素質)那即是: 能幹、正直、坦誠、柔順(易於教導)、和藹及不傲慢,
SANTUSSAKO CA SUBHARO CA APPAKICCO CA SALLAHUKAVUTTI
Contented, easy to support, with few duties and frugal habits,
知足、易於護持、俗務少、節檢,
SANTINDRIYO CA NIPAKO CA APPAGABBHO KULESU ANANUGIDDHO
Calm in qualities and discreet, not puffed up, not greedy among lay supporters.
諸根寂靜,處事謹慎,謙虛,不攀緣(不為了利養而常與護持者來往)。
NA CA KHUDDAṀ SAMĀCARE KIÑCI YENA VIÑÑŪ PARE UPAVADEYYUṀ
And let him not do even the slightest thing which later on the wise may blame
即使是極小的過失,他也不應犯, 以免將來受到智者的譴責。
SUKHINO VĀ KHEMINO HONTU SABBE SATTĀ BHAVANTU SUKHITATTĀ
He should contemplate. May they be happy and secure. All beings may they be happy-hearted.
他應當常常觀想並散髮慈心 : 願一切眾生獲得幸福與安穩,願一切眾生常生喜樂。
YE KECI PĀṆABHŪTATTHI TASĀ VĀ THĀVARĀ VĀ ANAVASESĀ
Whatever living beings there are – Weak or strong, omitting none,
凡所有生命者,或強或弱,毫無遺漏,
DĪGHĀ VĀ YE MAHANTĀ VĀ MAJJHIMĀ RASSAKĀ AṆUKATHŪLĀ
Those which are long or great, middle-sized, short, subtle or gross,
或高或壯,中等,矮小,或粗或細,
DIṬṬHĀ VĀ YE CA ADIṬṬHĀ YE CA DŪRE VASANTI AVIDŪRE
And those which are seen, or unseen, and those which dwell far or near,
或可見或不可見,或近或遠。
BHŪTĀ VĀ SAMBHAVESĪ VĀ SABBE SATTĀ BHAVANTU SUKHITATTĀ
Beings and those who wish to be – All beings may they be happy-hearted!
或已生或將受生,願一切的眾生常生喜樂。
NA PARO PARAṀ NIKUBBETHA NĀTIMAÑÑETHA KATTHACI NAṀ KIÑCI
Let none another deceive, nor despise anyone at all,
願他們不互相欺凌,不互相輕視,
BYĀROSANĀ PAṬĪGHASAÑÑĀ NĀÑÑAMAÑÑASSA DUKKHAMICCHEYYA
Or with anger or thoughts of hate wish Dukkha for each other.
不嗔不怨,不盼望對方受苦。
MĀTĀ YATHĀ NIYAṀ PUTTAṀ ĀYUSĀ EKAPUTTAMANURAKKHE
Thus as a mother with her son might guard with her life her only child,
猶如母親,用生命保護自己的唯一兒子一般,
EVAMPI SABBABHŪTESU MĀNASAMBHĀVAYE APARIMĀṆAṀ
In the same way with all beings unlimited one’s mind should be developed
同樣的,對於一切眾生,散髮無量的慈心,
METTAÑCA SABBALOKASMIṀ MĀNASAMBHĀVAYE APARIMĀṆAṀ
Loving-kindness for all the world – Unlimited one’s mind should be developed
對整個世界,也散髮無量的慈心,
UDDHAṀ ADHO CA TIRIYAÑ CA ASAMBĀDHAṀ AVERAṀ ASAPATTAṀ
Above, belong and all around, uncramped, without malice or enmity.
無論上下或四方,沒有阻礙,沒有仇恨或敵意。
TIṬṬHAÑCARAṀ NISINNO VĀ SAYĀNO VĀ YĀVATASSA VIGATAMIDDHO
Standing or walking, seated too, and lying while free from drowsiness
或站或走或坐著,或躺或睡不昏沈,
ETAṀ SATIṀ ADHIṬṬHEYYA BRAHMAMETAṀ VIHĀRAṀ IDHAMĀHU
He should stand firm in his mindfulness; this is divine Abiding here they say.
他應住於慈心中,這就是所謂的「梵住」。
DIṬṬHIÑCA ANUPAGAMMA SĪLAVĀ DASSANENA SAMPANNO
And without wrong views, virtuous and possessed of insight,
不落邪見,具足戒行及觀智,
KĀMESU VINEYYA GEDHAṀ NA HI JĀTU GABBHASEYYAṀ PUNARETĪTI. 
Having removed greed for sensual pleasures, he will surely come no more to any womb.
去除貪愛及欲樂,他必定不再受生於任何胎中。
